How Do I Prepare Skincare Items for Shipping?
Preparing your skincare items for shipping is a straightforward process. First, ensure you have essentials such as bubble wrap, shredded papers, and a packaging box. After gathering your essentials, follow the steps below:
- Carefully wrap the skincare items in bubble wrap.
- Fill the box with shredded paper or additional bubble wrap to prevent damage during transit.
- Seal the box with fragile tape to indicate that the items inside are delicate.
- Calculate the volumetric weight, i.e Length x Width x Height divided by 5000.
- Use a scale to weigh the actual weight of the package.
Note: Skincare items should be branded so manufacturer details can be seen.
How Do I Book a Shipment for Skincare Items?
1. Login into your Terminal Africa account.
2. Click the ‘Book shipment’ button from your dashboard and enter the sender’s and receiver’s addresses.
3. Select the type of packaging you are using and click on Add ItemEnter the skincare item name and select “Skincare” as the item category.
4. Enter the skincare item name and select “Skincare” as the item category.
5. Choose the option that best describes the skincare item you want to send from the item sub-category.
6. Next, select the HS code. The Harmonized System (HS) code is based on the item’s category and sub-category you chose. HS codes are commonly used throughout the import and export process to classify goods. Here is a list of HS codes for skincare items.
7. Input the correct weight of your package. Use the higher weight between your scale and volumetric weight.
8. Upload the Proof of Purchase and Proof of Weight documents. Here’s a guide to do this.
9. Select a courier and insurance for your shipment.
10. Review your shipment and make payment.

Label Your Shipment: After properly packaging your skincare items, label your shipment by attaching your Shipping waybill & invoice to the box package. This makes customs inspections fast and hassle-free.
Drop Off or Pick Up: After packing your skincare items, you can drop off your shipment at the selected hub or choose to wait for pick up, depending on your booking process choice.
Take Photos & Videos: Take a picture or video here while measuring your volumetric and actual weight. It will be helpful in case of weight discrepancy charges.
