Job Description:

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to enhance the organization’s operational efficiency, optimize performance, and support strategic decision-making. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify trends, uncover insights, and recommend actionable strategies that align with business objectives. The Senior Financial Analyst will lead performance analysis initiatives, mentor junior analysts, and deliver high-level reports to senior management. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in finance, including statutory regulations, financial reporting, and yearly audits, as well as a background in working within a startup environment.

Responsibilities & Duties

1. Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze large and complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and other relevant metrics.
  • Interpret data and provide actionable insights to senior management, highlighting performance drivers, potential risks, and opportunities.

2. Performance Monitoring:

  • Continuously monitor business processes and performance metrics to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Identify underperforming areas and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with various departments to implement performance improvement strategies.

3. Strategic Planning & Forecasting:

  • Support the development of long-term strategic plans by providing data-driven insights.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing historical data and predicting future trends.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and modeling to support strategic decision-making.

4. Project Management:

  • Lead and manage performance analysis projects from initiation through completion.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across various departments to ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
  • Prepare and present detailed project reports to stakeholders.

5. Mentorship & Collaboration:

  • Mentor and guide junior analysts, helping them develop their analytical skills and understanding of business processes.
  • Foster a collaborative environment within the analytics team and across other departments.
  • Promote a data-driven culture within the organization by championing the use of analytics in decision-making.

6. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that the analysis provided supports their goals.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between the analytics team and other departments, ensuring that data insights are effectively utilized across the organization.

7. Finance & Audit Management:

  • Oversee and manage statutory deductions, financial reporting, and yearly audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, real-time financial reporting modules, and dashboards to ensure financial transparency.
  • Lead financial analysis related to business performance, identifying key financial drivers and proposing strategic initiatives for cost optimization and revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial data reporting, and provide insights on financial health to senior management.
  • Play a pivotal role in the preparation for and response to audits, ensuring all financial documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and readily available.

8. Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with industry trends, tools, and technologies related to data analysis, performance management, and financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data collection, analysis methodologies, and reporting processes.
  • Advocate for and drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices in performance and financial analysis.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics or a related field.
  • A master’s degree or relevant professional certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial analysis, data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in finance, including statutory regulations, financial reporting, and yearly audits.
  • Proven track record in managing financial compliance and audit processes within a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a startup environment, with the ability to adapt quickly and contribute to business scaling efforts.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, or R.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and financial modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with performance management frameworks

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
